Gurgaon School Shootout – Is this the ‘all inclusive’ growth?

New India,  lots of jobs… like US, lots of money… like US, Busy schedules… like US, lots of TV Channels… just like America, Pizzas, burgers, multiplexes, pubs, discotheques, fancy clothes, designer wears, lots of booze, wines, amusement parks, .. all like US.. few more things that come as part of this “inclusive growth” are children shootouts in school.

What is wrong with us? Are we so fast in catching up in all the wrong things with US?  Do we really need that screwed up western education methods for primary schools? Add to this that we have developed these fancy schools where the buildings are air conditioned, earthquake proof, holidays in Europe, prom nights and what not. We see kids spending hundreads of rupees and time on cafe coffee days talking about sex, booze and smoking. Is this what we are giving our future generation?

I want to write much more on this topic but I am just too depressed by this news. I think we need to copy one more thing from America. We need to copy the phrase “God bless India”!

hey…nice take on how the indian mindset is changing and taking up too many fast decisions on copying western culture but hey….i have to say…what is so wrong with the U.S. if people want to dress and act like them its ok…remember God has all given us wil power and the right to choose what is wrong and right and education should be something that aids us to this endeavor…so that we can choose what is good and bad….its upto parents to teach and guide their children on whatever happens in this world and its the overall upbringing that matters….Its not America’s fault that they are ahead and have adopted in some way also a negative culture like it happens all good things in life so take it easy and take it as a duty to educate the young when you can to teach them so that they can use their right to choose for their own good and for others. Thw world is coming under one giant ujmbrella and its a way of life…its becoming one and thats nothing bad so dont blame western culture for corrupting the youth of the nation and the cafe coffee days…..live and let live and help in your own…There are so many things that can be done for our nation and you consciously contribute to it….

I agree with you Georgia. I think I wrote this blog when I was literally frustrated and feeling helpless. I am disappointed with the fact that we are not copying the good things from the western culture like equality, human values, pride, entrepreneurship, trust, freedom of expression. Kids over there earn their money by working on McDs and Starbucks for hours to earn $8 an hour. I have never seen a teenager with 5 friends wasting two hours and lots of money in expensive coffee at Starbucks. Take a walk on Bangalore MG Road, and you will only find kids on Cafe Coffee days. My point is, we “believe” that we are becoming more cool and progressive by letting our kids do this instead of teaching them the right values or the meaning of “responsibility”. Guess I didnt express myself clearly in the blog nor here. Will try to do a better job next time :) And thanks for stopping by and responding!

it is really bad when i read it .i am student from nasik, Maharashtra. i also see that my all friends spend their valuable time in CCD, PNR just for time pass as they know we are waisting a valuable time of studies, but still the boy from middle class family who behaves like reach boys .child from reach background don’t know the value of work.go for shopping , behave like hero, go for movie.actually in films life shows so materialistic, rich, glamorous.each people wants to be live like it.why hero wears daily new dress? cant he live a simple life?i think the social issues we introduce throw the movie? at least teenagers can think about it .they should not copy of shahruk khan and salman they should copy to a.p .j. kalam. and play the roll of shivaji in nayak.they should know the value of human. as people will be close to each other they will know the value of each other.
