Vote nobody and say no to political goons

I had read about this in the past but just saw this great write up as a comment on a rediff article (http://specials.rediff.com/news/2008/nov/30sld1-landmarks-at-dusk.htm). In the light of the recent attacks and a dysfunctional government, it becomes even more important to exercise our franchise: to vote!

Did you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section “49-O” that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn’t want to vote anyone!

Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called “49-O”.

Why should you go and say “I VOTE NOBODY”… because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received “49-O” votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the candidature of the con test ants will be removed and they cannot con test the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them. This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way; of our whole political system… it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public….

Please spread this news to as many as you know… Seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in India … show your power, expressing your desire not to vote for anybody, is even more powerful than voting… so don’t miss your chance. So either vote, or vote not to vote (vote 49-O) and pass this info on…

Use your voting right for a better INDIA .

you seem to have got the facts right but the concept could work in many ways affecting us.

Firstly the politicians today are supported by a strong legal group. So if any situation like the above occurs then there are many people right and wrong to bend these rules in many ways. This would automatically lead to more loss of our hard earned money which the “leaders”have already pocketed.

The fact is that innumerable arguments could go on about what is right and what is wrong and the argument would never end as everyone has a different perspective.

Lets understand that there doesn’t seem to be a solution as there are many politicians who with their fragile principles are destroying the country.
The law enforcers are severely inadequate.

What has to change is the mindset of all people.
Where pointing fingers and finding loopholes has to be stopped and sincere action with honesty towards the nation’s good.

We are only being amateur by complicating it for ourselves.

I believe what rpi says is right. situation in India has reached to a fight for freedom again. we have to fight with our own people now who are leading the nation. even i was thinking the same thing that if i want to declare no one eligible for my vote what to do. i am surprised that provision is there and our media, which claims for lot of things and news and education to build a good nation has never highlighted this.

I am extremely sorry for role of Media in India. they are supporting wrong things, may be unknowingly.

even several people like me want to do lot of things for our country but always try to answer coming in mind like

    where to start with
    how will society react
where will i get money for this
    who will support me

    etc………..

i believe we should start at least from somewhere may be we should start correction in our own life and surroundings to come up to a big change.

I agree. I was wondering the other day if we can do this (vote for everyone and notify our discontent with all the contestants) with electronic voting machines!

just read this blog superb weapon to use against politicians, to teach them a lesson but the main problem is that how the masses will get to know about, and it can omly be used in the metro cities only because in rest of the india there are not enough intellectuals to deeply think about this……….. and the politics is played on the caste basis so there will be no one to get ready to aaply this …………….but i can promise you dat when i get chance to vote in next assembly elections of haryana will surely use this weapon …………….and will propogate it amongst my fiends to use thi weapon

  5. good morning !!
I know that what would i say in next line somebody would kill me but
as an student i want to declare that if we quite to our politics it would be fruitfull in many ways such as:-
1)we would save money which is spent in councling for election for a particular candidate and could distribute to remove poverty
2)and we wshould make goverment as two equal and opposite parties one of republic govt. and other democratic as it is done in america and so the people their have no truble and are living freely.
3)government should be made but leader should not be greedy as are leaders now ,this is stated because a leader could walk on a cycle but he want expensive cars and not a single but about one dozen and where as the middle class family have no money to get a single car.

$$$$$$$$$ most important topic for xiith+ students $$$$$$$$$
I came across people who are providing their moblie no for getting admission in well reputed institute of india but in exchange of money in simple language they wants donation and those who studing day and night would not get addmisson in that institute bcz he has no money for that purpose and so in this way these people are making wrong use as those who get admission does not have knowldge ,and those who have knowledge are sitting idle.

and i want to requet u all that we only can make this world a better one
so give quite to the corruption in this world
and i would reply a deep detailed artice after few days as my exams are going on ,see you ,good bye may god bless you ,have a nice day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RPI,Chitra Gupta, Amit,Ananay and Nakul….I hope that your desire to change India is still there and has not died out. Where there is a will, there will always be a way Chitra. All one has to do is search for that way. I hope we can start a movement, and start using resouces that we have readily available to us, like internet and other print media to spread our word. We need more indians like us, like minded who have unflinching desire to make our India a truly great country. A country where values like honesty, humanity, respect, basic human rights, safeyty etc are the norm, not some shallow materialistics values that we currently have.Every day one can see the moral fabric of India being shredded to pieces and no one is willing to defend it. I only hope that we can and that too before we as a civilization cross the point of ot return. If you decide to get up and do something, please count me in and we shall do it together
